The #4 seed Portales Lady Rams faced stiff competition in Albuquerque at the 2019 NMAA 4A State Tournament. After losing to their 2nd round opponent, #5 Albuquerque Academy, they were placed in a contenders bracket, where they were going to face other opponents in order to gain redemption and join 3 other teams in the final four.
The Lady Rams defeated #11 Miyamura to advance to the next round in the contenders bracket, which set them up for a matchup against #9 Hope Christian on Saturday, November 15 at 6:30 pm. After 5 long sets, Portales was defeated and lost their chance at rejoining the final four. Their road to the state championship has ended. The final score of the game was 3-2 in Hope Christian’s favor.
The Lady Rams finished their season ranked #4 with a record of 19-7. Way to go, ladies! We are proud of you!
