Funeral services for Rebecca Eminger, 74, of Portales, will be held at 2:30 PM, Sat., Aug. 13, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Portales with Dr. David McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Randy Eminger, Bradley Hagen, Joshua Hagen, Sawyer Hardin, Isaiah Eminger, Bryan George and Ryan Walker serving as pallbearers. Brandon Barber, Lawson Barber, Rickey Cobb, Kyle Cooper, Kevin Cooper and Jimmy Moore along with all of her numerous friends and cousins will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Rebecca Lynn Eminger, known to virtually everyone as Becky, was born September 27, 1947 in Portales to the home of Mavis Lorraine (White) and Harold George and died on the morning of Aug. 8, 2022 in Portales. Becky was a 1965 graduate of Portales High School. On Sept 25, 1971 she was married to Gary Eminger in her grandparents’ home. She had made her home for a time in various places, but for more than 30 years she lived in Henderson, NV. She and her husband returned to Portales in 2010. Since moving back to Portales, she had attended the First Baptist Church where she was reared. For many years she and her husband worked as a team working for numerous companies as Insurance Benefit Counselors.
During her school years she was active in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, and as an adult she served as both a Mother Advisor and as a Grand Deputy for the Order. She was currently a member of the Sunrise Chapter #28 of the Order of Eastern Star in Henderson, NV. She was also a member of the Portales Woman’s Club.
Becky was an excellent cook. She expressed her love by preparing huge meals for family and friends to enjoy. She also did beautiful embroidery. For the past several years, Becky enjoyed playing computer games with an online community.
She is survived by Gary Eminger, her husband of nearly 51 years of their home; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Cyndi Barber Corpus Christi, TX; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sharman Eminger of Portales, Tammy and Tony Hardin of Pottsboro, TX and Lyndi Hagen of Henderson, NV; ten grandchildren, Brandon (Debbie) Barber, Lawson (Bernadine) Barber, Kyle (Apefa) Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Isaiah Eminger, Aliana Eminger, Logan (Jessica) Hardin, Sawyer Hardin, Bradley Hagen and Joshua Hagen; four great-grandchildren and a fifth due in October; a sister-in-law, Cathy (Mrs. John Harold George) Clark of Amarillo, TX; and several cousins who were more like brothers and sisters to her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, John Harold George.
