More often than not, I hear people in our area say; “there is nothing to do here”. Well, I found something new to do this weekend that is reasonable in cost and a ton of fun! Step out of your comfort zone and try something new at Target Sports.
There were three of us women who scheduled a private group lesson in handguns on Friday night, we took our guns with us however if you don’t have one or want to “try-out” a new gun before purchase, they have guns for rent. For only $10.00 gun rental fee and the cost of the ammo, you can try as many as you would like on their rental wall. What a great way to “try before you buy”!
We were met by our private instructor Doc Rohan who went through the basics of hand gun safety and what we could expect in the shooting range. Doc was informative and tailored his presentation to our individual needs and expectations; to top it off he was very funny! The time flew by and we were ready for the indoor shooting range. The range features 16 well lit lanes, each 25 yards long complete with an electronic, automated target retrieval system. It really is like something out of the movies! It was clean and climate controlled, that means NO WIND!
I would encourage you to try it out; the gun safety is something everyone should know and $30.00 for an evening of doing something new, fun and different, it was well worth it. I thought I might feel a little out of my element and uncomfortable however the staff is so nice and welcoming that you feel very comfortable. The experience of shooting a gun can be intimidating for some however this is the perfect environment to try it in, Doc was right at my elbow ready to help if needed.
The shooting range fees are $18.00/ a day for an adult and kids 8-12 years old are fee with a paying parent or guardian. What a great way to spend time with your kids! I doubt I am ever going to be a competitive shooter; my new goal is to be comfortable and competent with firearms. I am scheduling another lesson as soon as I can! See you there.
