The Portales Rams traveled to Los Lunas to face Valencia High School this week in a non-conference matchup. Kickoff was at 7 PM against the Jaguars.
Portales had taken a dominating lead over Valencia in the first half. By the 3rd quarter, the Rams were up 21-8. Valencia rallied though, bringing their score closer to Portales’ late in the 3rd.
With just under a minute left in the game, Valencia had pulled the score to within just 8 points of the Rams (34-28). Portales’ defense held strong though, and kept the Jaguars from scoring again, winning the game for the Rams.
After the hard fought 2nd half, Portales came away with a win over Valencia 34-28. The Rams are now 4-0 this season.
Their next game is Saturday, September 17 at 1 PM in Albuquerque against St. Pius X.
