The Lady Rams softball team took part in the annual Kristen Griego Varsity Softball Tournament that is hosted at Rio Rancho High School every year. The tournament was the closing weekend of March, and Portales faced 5 opponents over the course of the 3 days.
The first opponent the Lady Rams faced was a non-varsity opponent, and the only win they had the entire weekend. Their final score was 19-0 over the opponent. At the time of publishing, the school team was not named.
The second game was against Carlsbad, who defeated the Lady Rams 13-4. The game was on March 29.
Roswell faced Portales the same day in the tournament, and held the Lady Rams to a shut out. The final score of that game was 3-0.
On March 30, the Lady Rams played Bernalillo, who defeated Portales 21-8. Handing the Lady Rams yet another devastating loss.
Finally, Portales rounded out the difficult opponent list with a game against Goddard, who won 10-8 over the Lady Rams.
After finishing the tournament with 4 losses to only 1 win, Portales Softball is now 4-5 this season.
