The Portales Rams hosted Lovington for a district game to end their regular season yesterday at Greyhound Stadium.
Lovington scored first with a rushing touchdown. That was the only score in the first quarter. Lovington scored again in the 2nd, and the Wildcats held Portales to a no-score first half.
In the 3rd, Lovington received the ball first, but quickly turned over. On the possession following, Portales blocked their punt, and returned it for a touchdown. That was the first score for Portales. The PAT after was good. That set the score at 14-7 heading into the 4th.
Lovington scored a touchdown in the 4th with a completed pass, making the score 20-7. Portales answered with a pass from #1 Paxton Culpepper to #6 Kaidyn Cordova for a touchdown and a successful PAT. The score was at 20-14 as time ticked off the clock, and the game ended.
Portales finished their regular season 8-2.
