The Portales Rams traveled to Albuquerque for the 2nd game of their season, on Aug 31. They faced St. Michael’s Horsemen at 1:30 pm.

With a stadium full of fans, the Rams kicked off to St. Michael’s. Within a few short plays, Portales ended up with the ball again, and Running Back, Romeo Gbassagee, quickly scored a rushing touchdown to roll the momentum to the Rams early in the game. Then with a 3-and-out for the Horsemen, Portales took back possession and scored again with a 14 yard pass to Dason Davis.

St. Michael’s did score on a deep 70 yard pass in the first quarter, but then left the Rams unanswered in the next 3 quarters.

At the end of the 2nd, Portales’ RB Gbassagee had scored another 14 points, and the teams went into the locker room with a score of 28-6 at the half in Portales’ favor.

The Rams received the kick after halftime and Gbassagee soon added another 6 to the score, with a good extra point following. This raised the score to 35-6.

An interception by Rico Gurule and punts from St. Michael’s continued to give Portales the opportunity to score again, and the Rams’ Quarterback, Baylor Diaz, and Wide Receiver Kellan Hightower each added a touchdown in the 2nd half.

The final score of the game was 49-6 with Portales taking the win over their Private School opponent. The win puts Portales at an exciting 2-0 as they continue preparing for district as the season continues.
