Day 2 Leroy Gooch in Ruidoso.
The Portales Rams finished off day two of the Leroy Gooch tournament with a 326 for a two day total of 640 beating the competition by 31 shots.
Senior Thomas Tulk led the way with a one over par 73. He was striking the ball great which helped lead him to a second place finish as an individual. It was nice to see him that focused. Senior Andrew Underbrink finished at 82 for a 7th place finish. Senior Mario Cordova shot an 85 followed by junior Austin Davis and sophomore Talon Payne’s 86.
We continue to struggle down the stretch of these golf tournaments. Our team was in great shape to shoot another season best with 6 holes to go, but just couldn’t finish. Golf is a mentally and physically draining game. We need to work on endurance. It’s easy to let your mind and legs get weak.
We’ll continue to work hard and work towards our goal of a blue trophy.
We travel to the Spring Classic in Roswell Monday (NMMI) and Tuesday (Spring River) of next week.
