PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team and Head Coach Sia Poyer announced the signing of eight newcomers to the volleyball program for the Greyhounds. Destyni Brooks, Marissa Ellis, Sabrina Garza, Jasmine Gannon, Tateum Harrison, Natasha McClendon and Julie Tucker join the Green and Silver as freshman while Sierra Joyner comes to ENMU as a senior.

Brooks comes to the Hounds out of Cibola High School in Albuquerque, NM. The 5-10 outside hitter garnered First Team All-State honors and played club for VBIQ.

Ellis, a Desert Ridge High School product out of Goodyear, Ariz., picked up Second Team All-State accolades. The 5-10 outside hitter played for the KCVA club team.

Garza was a teammate of Brooks at Cibola High School in Albuquerque. The 5-8 outside hitter also lettered in track at CHS and plans to major in Pre-Med at ENMU. Garza played club for VBIQ.

Gannon joins ENMU as a local product out of Texico High School. A versatile middle and outside, the Clovis, NM, native earned First Team All-State honors in volleyball and basketball for the past three seasons and helped THS to three-straight state championships in volleyball and back-to-back titles in basketball.

Harrison declared for the Greyhounds after picking up First Team All-District and El Paso All-Star accolades during her tenure at Andress High School in El Paso, Texas. The 5-10 middle blocker played with the RVC Envy club.

Joyner spent the early part of her collegiate career at Moorpark Junior College and Johnson and Wales University. The libero earned First Team All-Conference honors at both stops. The Oxnard, Calif., native comes to ENMU with a year of eligibility remaining.

McClendon was an All-State player at Mary Knoll High School in Kapolei, Hawaii. The outside hitter plans to major in Criminal Justice at Eastern and played club volleyball for Team Piko Keauhou.

Tucker rounds out the signing class for the Greyhounds. The TAVC All-State selection and District Offensive MVP joins the Green and Silver out of Jarrell High School in Jarrell, Texas. The outside/middle played for the Texas Legends club team.

ENMU returns 13 players from last season’s 19-13 squad that posted the best finish since the 2004 season, earning a fourth-place finish in the Lone Star Conference regular season and first win at the LSC Tournament since 2004.
