Luli Lopez has volunteered for the Causey Fire Department and EMS Service since July 2016.Reyna Miramontes, who goes by Luli Lopez (her maiden name), recently became the Post Office clerk at Eastern New Mexico University. She lives in Causey, New Mexico, where she has volunteered for the Causey Fire Department and EMS Service since July 2016.
“I enjoy spending time with the Fire Department family,” she said. “I am happy to say that joining the Fire Department is one of the best choices I’ve made, and it has definitely changed my life.”
She explained that receiving her EMT-B from Clovis Community College in 2016 was her “greatest accomplishment, as well as being named the Post Office clerk at ENMU.”
Luli, who worked at the Causey Post Office for two-and-a-half years, delivers mail to student boxes and campus departments. She provides customer service by selling postage stamps, money orders and envelopes, as well as making sure that mail has the proper postage.
She enjoys the “different students I come in contact with. I also like that I feel appreciated. I was given the opportunity to work here and have been taught so much more than I thought was possible in a little amount of time.”
Her goal for the position is to “learn as much as possible about the postal and campus regulations. Any and all opportunities to grow are welcomed.”
She loves Eastern’s “diversity and opportunity to grow. The faces on campus are friendly. ENMU is close to home. Actually, ENMU is home.”
Luli’s hometown is Dora, New Mexico. Her father is a fence builder, and her mother is a homemaker who also helps her father build fences. She has four brothers and two sisters who live in the area. Two of her brothers also volunteer for the Causey Fire Department.
Her role models are her parents. “My parents always pushed me to work hard for what I want. They had seven children, so they couldn’t always afford to buy us what we wanted.”
She also looks up to her best friend, who “pushes me to do my best.
“I have two wonderful kids: Miguel, nine, and Nazli, four,” said Luli, who also has a dog and a cat. “My absolute favorite hobby is getting to spend time with my little family. We watch Miguel’s basketball games and go to the movies.”
