After a few tough losses earlier in their season, the Rams were falling in the NMAA Class 4A rankings. Their record began turning around in week 6 when they began their 3 game winning streak.
The Rams are now 5-3 this season going into their last 2 regular season games. They will face Moriarty (11th in 4A) at home next week, and finally Lovington (5th in 4A) on the road in their final game. With only the two opponents left, Portales is set up nicely to remain the number 1 seed going into playoffs.
Quarterback Julian Urioste has thrown for a total of 1,138 yards this season, with only 1 interception. He has also rushed for 786 yards. Receivers Kellan Hightower and Enrique Diaz have aided in the recent wins. Both players have successfully reached more than 200 passing yards, with an average of 15+ yards per catch. And with the 3 power players still healthy, Portales is lined up nicely to win their final two matchups.
The Rams host Moriarty on Friday, October 26 at 7pm. The game will be the final home game at Greyhound Stadium during their regular season.
