New Mexico’s reigning 4A state champs opened the season against the Texico Wolverines and began the year exactly where they left off last year. Offensively they started slow, but behind senior linebacker Enrique Cabral’s two first quarter interceptions, the Rams were able to hold the hard charging Wolverines at bay. After that it was all senior quarterback Tyrese Dawson leading the way with touchdown runs of 14 and 63 yards. And also throwing 6 of 9 for 88 yards and a 48 yard pass to junior Jakeb Killette. Next week the Rams play host to the 1-0 Lovington Wildcats.
