New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) traveled from Roswell to face Portales in January 23, 2020. The first period of the game was mostly dominated by NMMI who went into the 2nd period 12-7. Portales rallied though, taking the lead before half. The score was 30-25. After half however, Portales came out and completely destroyed their military school opponent. The Rams more than tripled the score of NMMI in the 3rd period alone, and by the end of the game, Portales was on top 74-40. The win was much needed for the Rams who have struggled this season and are now 7-12,
