There’s something truly special happening in Portales.
In the past few weeks, I’ve watched as our community has come together in ways that are both humbling and inspiring. As a young person who’s chosen to plant roots here and embrace the beauty of small-town life, I’ve seen firsthand a revival of love, patience, grace, and empathy throughout our streets, schools, and churches.
In response to recent challenges faced by our local students, Generations Church is hosting a free public event called Portales Finish Strong on Sunday, May 4 at 6:00 PM at Rotary Park. This night will feature worship, food, games, and fellowship, all aimed at uplifting our students and families as they close out the school year.
This situation is not normal—but our goal is to help restore a sense of normalcy, healing, and hope. We want the youth of Portales High School to know they’re not alone, and that they are deeply loved by this community.
We are currently inviting local businesses, churches, and organizations to partner with us—through donations, volunteering, or simply showing up to support. Let’s ensure our students are surrounded by a strong support system when they need it most.
