The Portales Rams traveled to Roswell in April 23. 2021 do face Goddard High in a conference basketball game. The game started at 7 PM with dozens in attendance.
Portales won the tip off but Goddard was the first to score. The Rams did answer back though, and at the end of the first buzzer, the score was 17-16 with Goddard only one point ahead.
After a second period foul, Portales began a bit of a lead for the first time in the game. The gap closed up to only a 1 point deficit for Goddard, but the Rams continued to remain in the lead. The teams went into halftime with a score of 34-29 and by the end of the third period, Portales was ahead 48-44.
In the fourth, the score stayed similar. Portales would score, and Goddard couldn’t completely overcome the deficit. The Rams came away with a win over the Rockets with a final score of 58-56.
The win was huge for the Rams’ morale. Their record is now 2-5 this season. They play next on Tuesday, April 27 at home at 7 PM against Artesia.
