Pokémon Go has become a popular game for people of all ages to play. It is played via an app that can be downloaded onto any Apple or Android device. Pokemon Go uses your mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon. The creatures appear as if they are in the player’s real-world location. It is a way to get out, get active, and enjoy playing a digital game in your real world. You can play the game any time, day or night, but each month the makers of Pokémon have a special event called Community Day. It features a special Pokémon and extra bonuses, etc.
There is a group of 60-70 members in Portales that meets every month at ENMU to scour the area in search of elusive Pokémon creatures. For just a few hours each month, you can encounter a special Pokémon in the wild. It provides the opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a part of the Pokémon GO community and make new friends along the way!
Our local Pokémon Go Community wants to give back to Portales in the month of August by donating food to the local pantry at Consigning Women.
Here is where they need your help…
August’s Community Event is on Aug. 11-12 from 12 PM – 3 PM each day. The Pokémon Go Community in Portales will be participating in the Community Day Event. They are asking you to provide food for the pantry on these two days. You can donate at the tables in front of the Campus Union Building (CUB of ENMU) at 10:30 AM on both mornings. With every 3 items donated, you will be entered in a Grand Prize Drawing for a $100 Cash Prize (donated by Consigning Women). There will be many other prizes given away as well.
The Grand Prize Drawing will take place on the 12th at the end of the event at 3 pm. The winner does not have to be present to win. So mark your calendars for this event, and bring your food items to the CUB on Aug. 11 or 12 at 10:30 AM to help the community and have the opportunity to win $100!!!
