Phyllis Coburn Obituary
A graveside memorial service for Phyllis Ann Coburn, 77, of Portales, will be held at a later time.
Phyllis Ann Coburn was born Jan. 11, 1946 in Clovis, NM to the home of Wilma Belle (Campbell) and Elmer Levi Robinson, and passed from this life on the morning of Jan. 2, 2024 at her home in Portales. Ms Coburn grew up in the Clovis and Portales area where she received her formal education. She went to earn a cosmetology license as an adult. On May 23, 1965, she was married to Travis Coburn. Mr. Coburn was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base at the time. During their years of marriage they were stationed at different times in California, Arizona and Texas. The couple had two children before they eventually divorced.
For more than 20 years she was employed as the Activities Director at the Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, TX. She had been retired since 2004. Ms Coburn enjoyed drawing and coloring, and spending time with her family. She loved watching westerns on television, especially those starring John Wayne. She also enjoyed watching nature programs, and ones about Alaska. Her favorite animals were monkeys and elephants.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Toby Dean of Portales; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Leann Coburn of Clovis; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, bob Robinson of Clovis and Joe Robinson of Cleburn, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dave and Verbie “Chuck” Robinson and a sister, Sharon Robinson.
