This week we will feature for adoption , Simon and Leela (brother and sister) They are of medium size mixed breed and look to be about 5-8 months old. They are very shy at first but quickly become loving when they realize you mean them no harm. Please consider them if you are looking for a pet but be sure and go by the Animal Shelter and look over all the pets that are in desperate need of a home.
Donations of food, toys, above the ground dog beds are always welcome and if you have time check in at the office and inquire about volunteering.
Animal Shelter is open:
Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 4:30 PM
Closed on Saturday, Sundays and City Holidays
The Portales Police Department provides full-service animal control to all residents within the Portales city limits. Animal Control Officers attend state certification classes and are trained to handle calls for service that involve domestic animals or wildlife.
All dogs and cats kept within the city limits must get a Portales city license. This license can be picked up at the Animal Shelter. Owners should bring proof of vaccination for their pet(s). The license costs $5.00 per year. In addition to the individual animal registration, Animal Control is responsible for issuing Domestic Livestock, Residential Multi-Animal and Commercial Permits.
