Peneku Drives in Run as Hounds open Series at UT Permian Basin

ODESSA, TEXAS — Senior right fielder drove in a run for the Eastern New Mexico University softball team as the Greyhounds opened a Lone Star Conference series on Friday evening. Eastern dropped a 9-1 decision to University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

Ashley Lopez led off the third inning with a single and took second on a base hit from Courtney Vigil
After a wild pitch, Peneku’s ground ball to short plated Lopez to cut Easterns deficit to 3-1
The Falcons sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the third and scored six runs
After Eastern’s at bat in the fifth, the game ended due to UTPB’s eight-run lead
Erikka Burke doubled for the Hounds
Jennifer McElroy added a base hit
Martiza Rojas tripled for UTPB, drove in three runs, and tossed a complete game
