After graduating high school, Pat enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp, and while stationed in San Francisco, she married Clarence (Babe) Kelly Alford. While in Portales, Pat worked as a hair stylist, a meat wrapper, a home healthcare aid, the director of the Senior Citizens Center, and as a foster care provider. She was happiest and most satisfied while caring for others.
