KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – Marta Pascoa posted a personal record in the 3000m Steeplechase, as Eastern New Mexico Track & Field competed in day two of the 2022 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Stadium. Heading into the final day, the women’s team stands in 5th place in team scoring with 15 points, while the men’s team sit in 11th place with two points.

Pascoa took home 4th place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:39.53, a new personal record and scored five points towards team scoring. In their last three times in the event, Pascoa has bested their PR each time and improved since the 2021 LSC Championships, where they placed 5thwith a time of 12:08.85. The time replaces their pervious personal best for 5th place in the ENMU program record books.

Malethabo Seema qualified for the final of the 800 meters after a time of 2:17.14. Seema finished third in their heat and fifth in the field. Lethabo Seemaalso took part in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 2:24.49. The time finished 15th in a field of 24 runners.

During the men’s 400, Japhet Toroitich posted a time of 49.64 to finish in 10th place, missing the finals by just 0.24 seconds. Devis Cheruiyot and Dan Hurren took part in the 800 meters on the men’s side, with Cheruiyot clocking a time of 1:59.33 and Hurren finishing in 2:00.48.

In the discus, Tamia Smith marked the day with a season best, with a throw of 38.19m (125′ 3″). Tatiana Hall also competed in the discus throw, but faulted in their three attempts.
