RICHARDSON, Texas – Marta Pascoa of the Eastern New Mexico women’s cross country team was named the Lone Star Conference Women’s Cross Country Freshman Runner of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday.
Pascoa placed eighth at the Texas Tech Open with a time of 19:10.15 on the 5-kilometer course. Pascoa was the fastest freshman at the Texas Tech Open and placed fifth among other LSC runners in her first race for the Greyhounds.
Pascoa is the first ENMU runner to receive a conference weekly honor since Mary Rotich received the female runner of the week accolade in October of 2018. Rotich received the honor after finishing first in the 2018 Lone Star Conference Preview with a 6k time of 21:48.65.
Pascoa and the Greyhounds return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 18, when they travel to the ACU Naimadu Classic in Abilene, Texas. The men’s race is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. with the women’s race following at 8 a.m.
