The Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce announced that Quaylene Parkey has been
selected as the new Executive Director of the organization.

Quaylene will start Nov. 1. Her hiring was unanimously approved by the full board at their
September meeting.

“We feel very fortunate to have someone of Quaylene’s business background and public
relations experience available to step into this position,” said Chamber President Eldon Merrick.
“We also feel very fortunate she is a member of this community and has been for years. We look
forward to seeing how she will lead us in the future.”

Quaylene recently retired from Hampton Farms. As a sales manager responsible for corporate
accounts including Walmart, Sams Club, Tractor Supply and Sam’s Club Mexico. Several years
ago, seeing a need for an additional local news source, Quaylene along with family members
founded The Roosevelt Review, an online only news source. Quaylene also worked at the
Chamber in the 1990s, including time as Chamber Manager.

Quaylene has been active in numerous organizations and volunteer positions, including time as a
Chamber board member. She has also been very active in service at her church.

“I believe in the strengths of Roosevelt County and I’m excited to work with the Chamber to
highlight those strengths and help make our Chamber and community as strong and vibrant as
possible,” said Quaylene. “I’m looking forward to working with the Chamber board, staff,
committees and community partners.

Quaylene grew up in the Portales area and is a lifelong resident. She is married to Mike Parkey.
She and Mike have a blended family of 5 children and 11 grandchildren
