PORTALES, NM — Just two days before the Lone Star Conference Championship meet, the league office released its honorees for the Cross Country All-Academic Team. Eastern New Mexico University was well represented, with Anna Parker and Lorenzo Juarez among the 11 athletes chosen.

Eligibility for the All-Academic Team is based on competition in at least half of the team’s meets during the season and maintenance of a grade-point average of at least 3.3 of a 4.0 scale. The athletes are nominated and voted on by the leagues Sports Information Directors. This year, there were five men and six women chosen to the All-Academic Teams.

Juarez, a biology major, posted two 13th-place finishes this season and came in ninth at the West Texas A&M Stampede. At New Mexico Junior College, the junior posted his best 8k time, to place 13th at 26:35.03.

Anna Parker, a family consumer science major with a minor in psychology, has been one of Eastern’s top performers this season. She placed 14th at West Texas A&M’s 6k Stampede with a time of 27:27.79. Parker’s top 5k time was 22:57.33.

Juarez, Parker, and the rest of the Eastern New Mexico University Cross Country Teams will be in Kingsville, Texas, this weekend for the LSC Championships. The event is scheduled for Saturday.
