Obituary
The Rosary for Pablo Urioste, 62, of Portales will be recited at 9:00 AM, Mon., Jan. 3, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Francisco Carbajal as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Anthony Salaz, Robert Urioste, Jr., Nathan Dodge, Armando Ontiveros, Paul Garcia and Leonardo Holguin serving as pallbearers. All family and friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Pablo Isidro Urioste was born May 31, 1959 in Portales to the home of Mary (Chavez) and Jose Urioste and died Dec. 29, 2021 in Lubbock, TX. Mr. Urioste lived his entire lifetime in Portales. On Sept 16, 1981 he was married to Eileen Garcia. They had four children together before they later divorced. As an adult, he was a residential construction contractor. He loved music, and played the congas and the timbales in the Combo Madrid Band. The band had played for dances, weddings and other events, as well as in Battles of the Bands all over New Mexico and West Texas. Pablo loved magic tricks, and seemed to always have a new one to show you. His most fulfilling time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Pablo Urioste, Jr and his fiancé, Jessica Razo of Lubbock, TX and Enrique “Kike” Urioste of Portales; three daughters, Angela Urioste and Vanessa Urioste both of Portales and Katy parker of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Reyes, and Santiago, Christiano, Penelope, Camila and Maddox Urioste; a brother and sister-in-law, Rafael and Juanita Urioste of Fort Worth, TX; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Michael and Patsy Dodge, Viola and Emiliano Lovato, Juanita Urioste and Mary Esther Taylor all of Portales; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Urioste of Ponca, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leroy and Arthur Urioste.
