Obituary

The Rosary for Oscar Lozano, Sr., 68, will be recited at 9:00 AM, on Friday, May 5, 2023, at St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 AM with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Jose Lozano, Noel Lozano, Francisco Lozano, Raul Hidalgo, Johnny Hidalgo and Christian Hidalgo serving as pallbearers.

Oscar Abelardo Lozano, Sr. was born on November 6, 1954, in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Olivia (Tarango) and Marcelino Lozano, and died on May 2, 2023, in Artesia, NM.

Oscar grew up in Candelaria, Texas, and moved to Portales in 1973.  He was a great mechanic and loved math and science.  Oscar had a good sense of humor and like to joke around.  He had a very positive attitude and was very kind and would help others who were in need.

Oscar is survived by his son, Ricardo Ruiz & wife Anna; his daughter, Maria Hidalgo & Dante Campbell; his brothers, Marcelino Lozano, Jr. & wife Josephine and Robert Lozano; his sisters, Rosa Elva Madrid, Lorraine Tellez and Sandra Lopez; thirteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda De La Rosa who passed away in 2006; his parents; a son, Oscar Lozano, Jr., and one brother.
