On behalf of US Census Bureau:

As of today, 50.5% of New Mexican households have responded to the Census and we are grateful for your efforts to increase the self-response rate in your county and in our state. Our Update Leave Operation is complete, except for tribal areas, where it is either underway or waiting for tribal authorization to begin. If you have specific cases of concern regarding the Update Leave Operation in your county, please let me know so we can look into them promptly.

We have two important announcements to share with you. First, Pauline Nunez, a former New Mexican resident, and Census Bureau veteran, has been appointed as the Partnership Coordinator for New Mexico. She was the New Mexico Partnership Coordinator in 2010 and the current Partnership Coordinator for Arizona and West Texas. Her email address isPauline.Nunez@2020Census.gov and she is available for any questions or feedback you may have.

Secondly, we will be resuming Questionnaire Assistance activities very soon, and I will be sharing more details with you in the coming weeks. I look forward to partnering with you on providing virtual or in-person questionnaire assistance for people in your community. As usual, here are the up-to-date response rates for your counties and response rates from 2010 and last week. We are steadily increasing our numbers and we know you play a big role in that increase.

To follow your city or county’s self-response rate on a daily basis, visit https://www.2020census.gov/en/response-rates.html. Attached you will find social media posts  you can use to promote self-response this week. An infographic with additional Census information is also attached.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the number/email below.

Sincerely,

Mercy Alarid, Ed.D.
