Fabiola Armijo Obituary

Fabiola Bertoline (Lovato) Armijo went to her eternal resting place on Saturday, January 19, 2025 to join her beloved daughter Laurie Ann and her sisters (Rita Gutierrez, Margaret Hodge, Demetria Duran, and Bennie Barrera) and two brothers (Andres Lovato and Delfido Lovato).

Fabby was born August 2, 1946 at Gonzales Ranch, NM to Atilano and Juanita (Lopez) Lovato. Fabby lived in New Mexico and Texas most of her life spending many years working and living in Portales, NM.  Wherever she lived, she had a loving home filled with family and friends. Fabby work hard and enjoyed spending time with her family and her’s and their children. Fabby retired from the City of Portales. During her time at that job, she spent numerous hours at the Senior Center where she enjoyed helping everyone there.

Fabby was blessed with two children Steve and Laurie Ann. She was overjoyed to have three grandsons; Anthony, Connor, and Payton and one granddaughter; Kaitlyn. Fabby was excited to know she had a great grandson (Elias Kadesh) joining her family. She was too sick to see him before she passed, but her heart was full just knowing he had arrived healthy and well.

Fabby was raised in the Catholic faith and joined the Church of Christ when she married. She was baptized in 2019 at Grace Baptist Church in Portales to reaffirm her belief that Jesus came to save her from her sins, that he died for her and was raised from the dead on the third day which allowed her too have no fear in death but a hope for rest in His presence. Fabby’s last years were spent at Artesia Healthcare and Rehabilitative Services due to dementia. Fabby received love and care from the staff there as well as daily visits from her son; Steve.

Fabby was the seventh of fifteen children of which 9 survive her; Junior (Manuela) Lovato, Fidel Lovato, Jane (David) Cordova, Bruno (Becky) Lovato, Fernandez (Marie) Lovato, Andy (Lupe) Lovato, Martina (Tommy) Pena, Nash (Hector) Serrano, and Emiliano (Viola) Lovato, and a surviving brother-in-law; Steve Hodge, and sister-in-law; Mary Lovato. She is also survived by her son; Steve (Maureen) Olguin, son-in-law, Michael Santillanes, grandsons Anthony (Micaela) Olguin, Connor Olguin, and Payton (Olivia) Santillanes, her granddaughter Kaitlyn Olguin, and great grandson Elias Olguin as well as an uncle Joe, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Services for Fabby have been entrusted to Wheeler Mortuary in Portales, NM. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 24 th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Wheeler Mortuary on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00am officiated by Pastor Connor Olguin followed by the internment at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Dora, NM. A meal will be served at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Portales at the completion of the burial service.
