Official Obituary of Dargan Bruce Wall March 31, 1952 ~ March 22, 2024 (age 71)

Graveside services for Dargan Wall, 71, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wed., Mar. 27, 2024 in the Portales Cemetery with Jim Wood officiating.  All of his many friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dargan Bruce Wall was born Mar. 31, 1952 in Portales to the home of Doris Leona (Davis) and Vurles L. Wall, and died at his home in Portales on the afternoon of Mar. 22, 2024 .  He grew up in Dora on the family farm, and attended school.  He was an outstanding basketball player.  Following high school, he went on to attend Eastern New Mexico University for a short time.

It was on Mar. 17, 1972 in the minister’s study at the Dora Church of Christ that he was married to Beverly Rust.  Dargan worked on a ranch, did custom harvesting, worked as an EMT for Clovis Fire Department, drove for Welch Trucking, and worked as a journeyman electrician among other things.  His true love was flying.  In 1978, he earned his private license.  When he had a passenger, he was always very careful to try to give them an experience that make them want to fly as much as he did.  In the early 1980’s, he earned his commercial license.  Dargan worked as a crop duster for many years.  For the last several years that he was active, he worked for a national company, treating crops not only in New Mexico, but also in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas and Colorado among others.

Dargan enjoyed drawing and writing stories. He was friendly and had an innate ability to talk to anybody he encountered. He enjoyed telling funny stories and making people laugh. He loved visiting with family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by Beverly, his wife of 52 years of their home; his two daughters, Amber Jouett and her husband, Jason of Portales and Aysha Wall and her wife, Samantha of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren, Carissa and Alexander Jouett; and a brother, Covey Wall and his wife, Algene of Dora, NM; as well as numerous cousins and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents and a brother, Russell J. Wall who died as a small child.
