Official Obituary of Apolonio Rios Carrillo February 9, 1944 ~ November 3, 2024 (age 80)

Funeral services for Apolonio Carrillo, 80, of Portales will be held at 10:00 AM, Sat., Nov. 9, 2024 at Iglesia Evangélica de Dios en Christo Jesús with Pastor Ramon Carrillo officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Chrisitan Mascorro, P. J. Carrillo, Adrian Carrillo, Alberto Patino, Alex Patino, David Capps, Fabian Mascorro, and Anthony Diaz serving as pallbearers.

Apolonio Carrillo was a devoted Christian and a member of the church of Iglesia Evangélica de Dios en Christo Jesús for 44 years. Apolonio was the son of Sylvestra and Carmen Carrillo and was born on Feb 9. 1944 in Durango, Mexico. Apolonio married his beloved wife Lilia Carrillo on June 20 1966 and had been married for 58 years.

Both Apolonio and Lilia came into the United States as immigrants in 1977. Apolonio and Lilia would end up giving birth to and raising 10 children-Raymond Carrillo, Hortencia Carrillo, Apolonio Carrillo, Sylvia Patino, Catalino Carrillo, Flora Carrillo, Angélica Carrillo, Joshua Carrillo, Lorane Carrillo, and Emanuel Carrillo. Apolonio would also have 20 grand kids and 8 great grand kids.

Apolonio’s hobby consisted of taking care of his chickens, calves, goats, while also maintaining a beautiful garden of vegetables at his ranch. Apolonio loved watching his children and grandchildren play baseball and compete in local tournaments. His love for his family was transcendental as well as his tenacity for hard work. His love, kindness, and generosity were aspects of his character he always wore on his sleeve. His passing further demonstrates the impact and love he imprinted on his family and friends. While Apolonio may be gone, his soul will forever live on in the presence of God as well as the everlasting impact on his Children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s lives.
