Memorial services for Justin James King, 13, of Portales will be at 5:00 PM, Jan. 5, 2017 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Troy Hinton and Steve King officiating. His father, Bob King, his grandfather, Gerald King, his brothers, Timmy King, Jason King and Bryan Reffner, his sister, Jessica Reffner along with all of his close friends and his teachers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Justin James King, known to family and friends as “J. J.,” was born May 2, 2004 in Malone, NY and died Dec. 25, 2017 in Lubbock, TX. Very shortly after his birth, the family moved to Ohio where he lived until 2013. At that time the family moved to Portales. He was currently a 7th grade student at Portales Junior High School. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. J.J. enjoyed playing video games, and making people laugh. He had a heart of gold. J. J. could always see the best in people. Time spent with his family and friends was always precious to him, and he was especially fond of his dog, Peanut and his cat, Tigger.
He is survived by his parents, Maryann and Robert “Bob” King of Portales; three brothers, Bryan Reffner and Timothy King of Portales and Jason King of Medina, OH; a sister, Jessica Reffner of Cleveland, OH; and his paternal grandfather and step grandmother, Gerald and Peggy King of Elyria, OH. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sherlee and Charles Glassmeyer and his paternal grandmother, Grace King.
