Gerald Glen Hill was born Dec. 12, 1943 in Kerens, TX to the home of Annie Lenora (Vest) and Alvis Overton Hill and died early Sunday morning, Mar. 17, 2019 at the Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock, TX. The family moved to Roosevelt county when he was a boy, and he graduated from Portales High School in 1961. Gerald was an excellent baseball player, and played ball from the time he was very young. He normally played third base, but could play the outfield as well, and could throw a ball as straight as an arrow from the back field fence to the catcher. For many years as an adult he played fast pitch softball. He also enjoyed bowling. Gerald was a quiet man that kept mostly to himself. He spent most of his working life on the family farm, but for several years he also worked on the Portales Street Dept.
He is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Randall Hill of Portales and Bobby and Patsy Hill of Odessa, TX; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Charles Deckard of Blue Ridge, TX and Peggy and Gene Predieri of Shelby, OH; there are also several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Juana (Hill) English and a brother-in-law, Larry Deckard. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alvis Hill, Jr. and William Hill and two sisters, Connie Deckard and Glenda Simacek.
We are so sorry for the passing of Gerald. We had a lot of fun visits and laughs through the years with Gerald. We love you all
