Funeral services for Frieda Miller, 81, of Bethel, will be at 2:30 PM, Tues., Jan. 16, 2018 at the Floyd Methodist Church with Pastor Liz Smith officiating. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Frieda Lee Miller was born Aug. 20, 1936 at her family home in Bethel, to Bertha May (Porter) and Robert Frederick Campbell, and passed from this life on Friday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Frieda graduated from Floyd High School in 1953. On her 13th birthday, she first met her future husband, Dale Miller. They were married in Portales on Jan. 28, 1955. Except for a very brief time, she lived her entire life in the Bethel community. Frieda was a rancher and farmer, and worked as hard as any man. In addition, she prepared mountains of food for branding and shipping crews, as well as any family that might show up at her table. Frieda was a first class cattle woman. She worked cattle with an enviable quiet skill. Besides all of her other work, she maintained a 5 acre yard to perfection, and always raised a big garden for canning and freezing. She was a very accomplished seamstress, sewing for herself and her family.

Frieda was a faithful member of the Floyd Methodist Church, and she lived her faith every day. She never gave a thought to her own comfort, but was always doing for others. It didn’t matter what the need, she was always there to help..
She loved music, and singing and dancing. Frieda was the last surviving member of the original cast of the Floyd Jamboree. Of the 67 years of performances, she or her offspring have performed in almost every single production. Frieda also liked to write funny stories, and make up songs and poems.

She is survived by Dale, her husband of just two weeks short of 63 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Len and Amy Miller of Long Lane, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Ken Luna and Linda and Wesley Brown all of Bethel; nine grandchildren, Nate (Russetta) Luna, Anne Luna, Evan (Nayuta) Luna, Audra, Keane and Maeve Brown, Lance (Kelsey) Miller, Landon Miller and Levi (Nikki) Miller; a great-grandson, Sequoia Luna, and Miles Miller who is expected to arrive in April; and one sister, Irene Lock of New Caney, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Fred, Alex and Porter Campbell, five sisters, Mildred Campbell, Wilma Robinson, Fern Cochrain, Faye Lee and Mary Holland, and by an infant son, Robert Glen Miller.
