The Mass of the Resurrection for Frank Lopez, 54, of Portales, will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Wed., Mar. 28, 2018 at St. Helen Catholic Church by Fr. Charles Ugochukwu. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with James Sanchez, Saul Acosta, Manny Fonseca, Joe Viera, Benny Gomez and Lalo Delgado serving as pallbearers. Sam Lopez, Rojelio Lopez, Manuel Lopez, Jr., Juan Lopez, Manuel “Chato” Lopez and Manny Lopez will be honorary pallbearers.

Francisco Lopez, known to most people as Frank, was born Jan. 10, 1964 in Olton, TX to the home of Elida and Manuel Lopez, and died Mar. 24, 2018 in Lubbock, TX. When he was a boy, his family moved to Bovina and later to San Angelo, TX before coming to Portales in 1978. Frank graduated from Portales High School in 1982, having played football for the Portales Rams. He loved gaming birds and cock fighting. He went to work at Worley Mills in 1983, where he was an operator. He continued to work there when it became Sunmark Grain and later J. D. Hieskel. At times he would leave the grain elevator to work for K. Barnett Construction. He had lived in Clovis for the past twelve years, and had been disabled for the past two years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis.

He is survived by his life partner, Kathy Chavez of Clovis; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Francisco “Kiko” Lopez, Fernando and Felicia Lopez and Fabian and Angelica Lopez all of Portales and Bryan Lopez of Clovis; three grandchildren, Elijah, Avanii and Breeha Lopez; six brothers, Sam Lopez of Abilene, TX, Rojelio Lopez and Manuel Lopez, Jr. both of Portales, Juan Lopez of Waco, TX, Manuel “Chato” Lopez of Odessa, TX and Manny Lopez of San Antonio, TX; and four sisters, Olga Martinez and Gloria Gonzales both of Portales, Tomasa Martinez of Abilene, TX and Cecilia Contreras of Brownfield, TX. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and a sister, Benita Jimenez.
