Funeral services for Wilma Patterson, 80, of Ruidoso, NM will be at 3:00 PM, Sat., Sept. 8, 2018 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Floyd Cemetery with Jeremy DeShazo, William Morris, Paul Maes and Erik Padilla serving as pallbearers.
Wilma Ruth Patterson was born Nov. 30, 1937 in Portales to the home of Lucille (Williams) and Marvin Samuel Widener and died Sept. 4, 2018 in El Paso, TX after a brief illness. She grew up in the Floyd community. In 1956, she met Robert Charles Roy while she was at the Foxy Drive In in Clovis. Mr. Roy was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base. The couple was married on May 1, 1957 in Clovis. He passed away on July 12, 1963. She was later married to Mr. Patterson.
For the past thirty years or more, she had lived in Ruidoso where she worked as a cashier for Onda Oil Company. Mrs. Patterson loved to quilt. She was also known for her baking. She often made pineapple upside down cakes or cookies or carrot cakes.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Rene Cameron of Clovis; five grandchildren, Amanda (Paul) Maes of Clovis, Jeremy (Samantha) DeShazo of Lubbock, William (Micah) Morris of Fort Irwin, CA, Kara Morris and her companion, Erik Padilla of Las Cruces, NM and Michael Morris of Landstuhl, Germany; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Colleen Widener of Ruidoso. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, June Curry, a daughter, Patricia Lucille Wilkerson who died Nov. 29, 2012, and by both of her husbands.
