Steve Cooper, 65, of Portales passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born in Portales on December 10, 1953, and graduated from Elida High School in 1972.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Wheeler Mortuary in Portales with Blake McAlister officiating. Bobby, Roy, Daniel, and Robby Parker, Darance Lewis, Kip DeFoor, Darrrell Cameron, Preston Riley, Mark Littlejohn, and Shawn Burrows will serve as pallbearers.
Steve is survived by adopted son Bobby (Amanda) Parker of Portales; adopted grandsons Roy, Daniel, and Robby Parker of Portales; mother Billie (Best) Cooper of Portales; brothers Lynn Cooper of Texico and Britt (Anjy) Cooper of Roswell; nieces Kelley (Jeff) Fontanilla of Texico, Jaylyn (Craig) Cook of Clovis, Jordan (Seth) Bailey of Broadview, and Desiree Cooper of Portales; nephew Sterling Cooper of Las Cruces; great-nephew and great-niece Christian and Kirra Fontanilla of Texico; and other family members and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his father J.E. Cooper (1978).
