Funeral services for Ryan Magness, 45, of Portales, will be at 11:00 AM, Sat., Feb. 23, 2019, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Pete Jaramillo officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Kirk Bryant, Marsh Maddox, Chance Roberts, Billy Reese, Orvel Turner and Mike O’Connor serving as pallbearers. Waylon Wigington, Seth Freeman, John Beister and Rob Todd will be honorary pallbearers.
Ryan Willis Magness was born Feb. 15, 1974 in Canyon, TX to the home of Jeanny Yvonne (Sanders) and Ray Dean Magness and died very suddenly in Portales on Feb. 19, 2019. Ryan grew up in Portales and Oklahoma, and was a 1992 graduate of Olustee High School in Olustee, OK. He went on to earn an Associate’s Degree as a Medical Lab Tech from Cameron University in Lawton, OK. For over 25 years he worked in hospitals in Altus, OK, Dallas, Lubbock, Levelland and Amarillo, as well as in Roswell, Tucumcari and Carlsbad. Ryan loved to travel, and was especially drawn to Italy and Rome.
He is survived by his mother, Jeannye Easter of Portales, his father, Ray Dean Magness of Elmer, OK; and a brother, Chance Roberts of Portales; as well as by several aunts, uncles and cousins, and a number of close friends.
