Memorial services for Jackson Swift, 16, of Portales, will be at 10:00 AM, Fri, Sept. 7, 2018 at Third and Kilgore Church of Christ with Dee Teel officiating.
Jackson Independence House Swift was born July 10, 2002 in Clovis. He was currently a Sophomore at Portales High School where he was an honor student. Jackson was an avid baseball player, and was currently running on the school cross country team. Other things he enjoyed included skate boarding and hunting and fishing. He and his younger brother were the best of friends, and Jackson loved playing all kinds of games with him. There were great times of hide and seek, as well as basketball and video games. Jackson was very proud of his Jeep, and really enjoyed driving it. Jackson was an active member of the Brazos Street Church of Christ.
He is suvived by his parents, Suzanne and Stephen Swift of the home; his younger brother, Noah Swift; his sister, Delaney Swift of New London, CT; his maternal grandmother, Joy Stevenson of Portales; his paternal grandparents, Carolyn and Don Swift of Tyler, TX and Alda House of Las Cruces, NM; his aunts and uncles, Jim and Shawna Stevenson of Boerne, TX, Joel and Kari Stevenson of Albuquerque and Paula Bartley of Tyler, TX; three cousins, Joanna Bartley, Jake Stevenson and Samantha Stevenson; as well as other family members and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ike Stevenson, his paternal grandfather, Bill House, and by his biological father, Randall House who died in Dec. of 2002.
Jackson was a teacher’s dream student. He always came in the classroom with a huge smile and gave the best hugs in the world. His thirst for knowledge was huge, as was his ability to discuss and debate. On a personal level he grabbed a piece of my heart. He always came to say hello and once again gave those rib-crunching hugs no matter who was around, reminisced about his time in class, and joked about some of the things that gave us belly laughs – he did it because he loved big. My heart aches for his family, but especially for his brother Noah. I will never forget you Jack. Always in my heart buddy!
My heart and prayers go out to you. I did not know Jackson but know a lot of people who did.
It causes us pain to realize the sorrow that this must give the family in the loss of Jackson. We grieve for you.
