Funeral services for Jack Dendy, 87, of Portales will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Dec. 7, 2018 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with George Brumfield officiating, assisted by Johnny Lieb. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Jimmy Dendy, Dennis Monroe, Jim Dendy, David Aguirre, Buddy Isbell and Ricky Brumfield serving as pallbearers. Donny Bouldin, Tommy LaGrand, Ronnie Mitchell and Junior Best along with all his other many friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family wishes to express special thanks to Carmela Segovia for her care for Jack and her help for Geneva. They also appreciate the care that Kindred Hospice gave during his final days.

Jack Weldon Dendy was born July 5, 1931 in Portales to the home of Bessie Inez (Miller) and Carl Bland Dendy and died Dec. 4, 2018 in Portales. Except for a short time in the mid 1950’s, Jack lived his entire lifetime in Portales. On Dec. 4, 1954, in Portales, he was married to Geneva Dever. Jack drove trucks for several different companies locally, including Price’s Creamery, J. D. Ray and Welch’s Trucking. For several years he made weekly trips to CA to the L A Nut House. During the summers his children would take turns riding with him. Later he went to work for Ellerd and Ellerd Milk Producers, which later became MPI and finally AMPI. He retired in 1991. Jack had a cabin at Fort Sumner where he enjoyed going to spend time and to fish. He also enjoyed going hunting.

He is survived by Geneva, his wife of 64 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Vici Dendy of Clovis and a daughter and son-in-law, Le Neva and Mike Madden of Portales; eight grandchildren, Rachel Dendy, Chris (Katie) Dendy, Mecca (Justin) Fowler, Amanda Landerman, Kayla (Tim) Vines, Shayla (Michael) Crowder, Haley Madden and Kenzie (David) Aguirre; and 11 great-grandchildren and another expected early in 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Kenneth, Ed and Claude Dendy and three sisters, Marie Isbell, Imogene Monroe and Lula Mae Slavey.
