Funeral services for Grace Gault, 90, of Clovis will be at 2:00 PM, Mon., Dec. 17, 2018 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Dvid Garrett, Brandon Judah, Wes Penrod, Sean Gault, Greg Foster and Junior LeClear serving as pallbearers.
Grace Louise Gault was born May 23, 1928 in Alex, OK to the home of Laura Bertha (McNeely) and David William Southern and died at her home in Clovis, early on the morning of Dec. 14, 2018 surrounded by her family. The Southern family moved to Portales in 1940. Mrs. Gault was married to Ernest Hazen Gault on Oct. 3, 1944, and they made their home in Portales until 1967 when they moved to Clovis. Over the years she had worked as a custodian at the hospital and the Gas Company among other places. She retired in 1990 to care for her ailing mother, who died in 1996. In addition, she took care of several of her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing embroidery and cooking. Among her specialties were her pies. She kept an immaculate house, and was always cleaning something. Mrs. Gault was very family oriented in all of her thoughts and activities.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Nell Gault of Clovis and Deborah Kay and Neal Waller of Marcus, IA; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Reese Southern of Portales. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, J. W., Allen and Heights Southern, two sisters, Imogene Manning and Edna Grimes, three sons, Richard Dale Gault who died in 1966, Gary Hazen Gault who died in 1973 and Gerald Wesley Gault who died in 2016, and by her husband, Ernest Hazen Gault who died in 1974.
