Those desiring to make memorial contributions may send them to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130.

Gail was born June 1, 1951 in Portales, to the home of Delma Lee (Elmore) and Arthur Oscar King, Jr., and died at her home on June 16, 2018. She was a 1969 graduate of Dora High School. Gail was chosen as the Basketball Sweetheart her senior year. She was a Future Homemaker’s of America National Officer, and attended the National Conference in Florida in the summer of 1969. Gail earned an AA in Clerical from E.N.M.U. in 1978, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She followed that with a BS in Business in May of 1986. Even before graduating, she was employed at the university as a records clerk. She completed a 20 year career as secretary for the Dean of the Graduate School. She had been retired since 2013.

On Jan. 6, 1978 in Dora, she was married to Butch Crozier. They were faithful members of the Church of Christ throughout their married life. Gail was a devoted wife and mother, and a doting grandmother. She adored children, and for many years she taught the Cradle Roll Sunday school class. Through the years, she had done babysitting for at least 50 different children. For the past several years she had been devoted to creating lap quilts for children who were fighting cancer. Gail had made more than 2000 of those quilts and sent them literally all over the country. Just in the past 9 months she had created more than 150, and had literally used every last scrap of fabric.

She is survived by Butch Crozier, her husband of more than 40 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Jon Barnett of Clovis; and two grandchildren, Sabra Billups and husband, Chance of Springdale, AR and Jakeb Barnett of Clovis.
