The world’s greatest daddy went home with our Lord and Savior early on the morning of June 18, 2018 in Plainview, TX where he had been living for the past several years. Emilio Salazar was 95 years old at the time of his transition. He was born June 30, 1922 to Abran and Felicidad Salazar in Juan De Dios, NM.
He was married in 1942, to the love of his life, Julia Chavez. They raised a nephew as their own son, Joe Patrick Chavez, who tragically passed away in 1965 at the age of 17. Soon after that, they adopted a daughter, Patricia “Trish” Hawkins.
Emilio worked hard to keep his family cared for. He was a man of integrity, and he suffered hardships for the betterment of his family. He eventually worked for the City of Portales in Sanitation and for the Parks Department, and retired in 1984.
He dedicated his life to providing for his family, and caring for his wife until she passed in 2005. On Good Friday, April 2006, he gave his life to the Lord. He moved to Tulia, Texas with his daughter and son-in-law, and later to Plainview, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, his parents, sisters, Maria Casaus, Olympia Casaus, Otilia Lucero and Alicia Flores; a brother, Jose Abran Salazar and three half brothers, Roberto, Cristian and Sotero Salazar. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia “Trish” (Salazar) and Chester “Chet” Hawkins.
Emilio will be greatly missed. He was a joy and blessing to know. The Lord trusted him to be a husband, a daddy, and a father-in-law among many things, and he was the best at all these things; above all, Emilio was a child of The Living God, and is now in the arms of his Savior.
