The Mass of the Resurrection for Carmen R. Castillo, 79, of Portales, will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Sat., Aug. 11, 2018 at St. Helen Catholic Church by Fr. Charles Ugochukwu. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Honorio Castillo, Homero Castillo, Carlos Castillo, Cesar Castillo, Carmelo Castillo and Tany Gomez serving as pallbearers. The Rosary will be recited on Fri. evening, Aug. 10, 2018 at St. Helen Catholic Church.
Carmen Rodriguez Castillo was born Aug. 4, 1939 in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Rafaela Rodriguez and Anacieto Castillo and died at his home west of Portales early on the morning of Aug. 9, 2018. Mr. Rodriguez was married to Mercedes Salgado in 1955. He worked as a farm laborer all of his life. The couple came to Portales to make their home in 1997. Carmen loved raising goats and chickens. He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Renato and Yolanda Castillo and Honorio and Martha Castillo of Portales and Ramon Castillo of Cactus, TX; six daughters and 4 sons-in-law, Victoria Gonzales, Maria and Mario Aguirre and Mercedes and Tanis Gomez of Portales, Carmela and Benjamin Vitolas of Fort Worth, TX, Martina Garcia of Cactus, TX and Guillemina and Miguel Serna of Mexico; 28 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dulces N. Castillo-Rodriguez of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Manuel and Enrique Castillo, a sister, Maria E. Castillo, a daughter, Imelda Diaz and by his wife, Mercedes who died Feb. 25, 2014.
