Graveside services for Sue Skinner, 86, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wed. Aug. 2, 2017 in the Portales Cemetery with Kenneth Broad officiating.

Erba Sue (Patterson) Skinner passed away peacefully July 28, 2017. Sue was born in Portales February 7, 1931 to Irving Mack and Ora Ottis Patterson. She was the youngest of six children. Sue was baptized into the Christian faith as a young girl. Sue graduated from Portales High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart Robert Skinner June 3, 1949. To this union four children were born; Sunshine, Jon Horse, Prester and Pete aka San, Jon, Leslie and Dee.

Robert and Sue owned Skinners Western Wear on the square in Portales. Skinners was started in 1923 by John Willis Skinner. It is the oldest continuous family run business in Portales. Sue helped at Skinners and worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for Roosevelt County Electric Co-op, Cannon Air Force Base, Roosevelt County Water Co-op and Eastern Plains Council of Government.

Sue was an accomplished seamstress and made everything from a wedding dress to reupholstering furniture. She loved to garden, evidenced by her beautiful flower beds. Sue enjoyed traveling and researching family geneaology with her sisters. She loved the visits from her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and was particularly proud of her great granddaughter Zoe Morrison singing at the Floyd Jamboree.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband Robert Skinner who passed away January 13, 1983, her parents, Irving Mack and Ora Ottis Patterson, her siblings; Guy ( Sue ) Patterson, Glenda (Jack) Reamer, I. M. (Barbara) Patterson, Jr., Patsy (B.G.) McCleery Jacquiline (Jack) Lynde, a special niece, Jill Stewart, and special nephew, Mike McCleery .
Sue is survived by her children, San (Sherri) Skinner, Jon (Dona) Skinner, Leslie (Jim) Mullins, Dee Flynn and fiance Randy Smith, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, her loyal caregiver and dear friend, Mary Mendoza, her loving family at Heartland Continuing Care, her four legged companion, Skitter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
