Obituary for Dwayne Morgan Glover
Memorial services for Dwayne Glover, 83, of Portales, will be at 10:30 AM, Sat., Oct 21, 2017 at the University Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the VFW Post 9515.
Dwayne Morgan Glover was born April 18, 1934, in Carrizozo, NM to the home of Gracie (Morgan) and Bernard Morgan Glover, and died Oct. 15, 2017 at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.The family moved to Portales in 1938, and Dwayne graduated from Portales High School in 1952. He joined the Army, and served two years. Following his discharge he came back to Portales, and worked for the Telephone Co, and Borden Peanuts before going into business for himself. He developed a produce business by going to Mexico and other locations to purchase products and bringing them back to sell. He also became the local “wood man” by cutting wood in the mountains, and other locations, and preparing it for use in fireplaces. He enjoyed reading and woodworking and going to Saturday morning garage sales. He was a member of the University Baptist Church.
On Sept. 13, 1999, he was married to Dorothy Hardy. Mrs. Glover survives him, along with a step-son and daughter-in-law, James and Martie Chacon of Clovis; a step-daughter, Carla Chacon of Clovis; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Shirley and Bernice.
