Funeral services for Dulces Valdez, 67, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Mon., Oct. 16, 2017 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ramon Carillo officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Caleb Burciaga, Nathan Burciaga, Aaron Burciaga, Cisco Valdez, Cruz Valdez and Marcos Guzman serving as pallbearers.
Dulces Nombres Valdez was born April 25, 1950 in San Antonio del Bravo, Mexico to the home of Nicolosa (Sanchez) and Pedro Burciaga and died at her home in Portales early on the morning of Oct. 13, 2017. On May 3, 1969 in San Antonio del Bravo, she was married to Jesse (Jesus) Valdez. They moved to Portales in 1971. In 1982 she began working at the Borden Peanut Co, and was employed there until 1996. Mrs. Valdez was a devoted Christian, and loved attending church and reading her Bible and other inspirational materials. She enjoyed having her grandchildren and nieces and nephews in her home to care for them. For relaxation Mrs. Valdez liked to watch soap operas on television.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse of their home; three sons, Jessie Valdez, Jr. and his wife, Teresita of Gilbert, AZ, Auden Valdez of Portales and Leroy Valdez and Evalani de la Cruz of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren; her mother, Nicolosa Burciaga of Portales; two brothers, Pedro Burciaga, Jr. and Saul Burciaga both of Portales; and two sisters, Elida Lopez and Olaya Espinosa both of Portales. She was preceded in death by her father, Pedro Burciaga a sister, Estela Rodriguez, who died in 2005, and a son, George Dubel Valdez who died in 2011.
