Funeral services for Daniel Saiz, 44, of Portales, will be at 10:00 AM, Thurs., April 5, 2018 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery with Brendan Caywood, Benny Tapia, Jason Wilbanks, Daniel Caywood, Lee Caywood, Vic Lucero, Andrew Lucero, Josiah Lucero, Gilbert Lucero and Louie Madrid serving as pallbearers. His softball teammates along with his co-workers and all his close friends will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wed. evening, April 4, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM.
Daniel David Saiz was born Feb. 6, 1974 in Portales to the home of Elvira and Richard Saiz, and died at his home in Portales on April 2, 2018. Daniel was a 1992 graduate of Portales High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting from Eastern New Mexico University. Daniel worked in Medical Billing at La Casa for several years. Later he was employed in the Accounts Payable Department at Southwest Canners before going to work for Roosevelt County. The last four years he was employed at Eastern New Mexico University in their Accounts Payable Department.
On July 3, 2004, he was married to Jennifer Caywood. Daniel was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Daniel enjoyed playing softball and roller skating and listening to music by Moriah Carey. He also liked to watch sports.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of their home; three sons, Brendan Caywood and his fiancé, Rachel Snyder, Emmett Saiz and Stephan Saiz all of Portales; two daughters, Lillie Saiz and Shaila Saiz also of Portales; his parents, Elvira and Richard Saiz and his mother and father-in-law, Doncella and Jimmy Caywood of Portales; two sisters, Victoria Leon and wife, Elizabeth of Albuquerque and Sophia Saiz and her companion, Eddie Marez of Clovis; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Jennie Caywood of Friona, TX; a sister-in-law, Janelle Caywood and her fiancé, Jered Ryan of Portales; his nieces and nephews, Nicholas Saenz, Angelique Marez, Lee Caywood, Kori Caywood, Chayton Caywood and Emma Ryan; as well as numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
