Graveside services for Barry Franks, 56, of Portales, NM will be at 2:00 PM, Mon, Mar 5, 2018 in the Portales Cemetery with Rev. Brad Morgan officiating. All his friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Barry Dean Franks was born April 5, 1961 in Galerburg, IL to the home of Joyce (Sparkman) and Maynard R. Franks, and died at his home in Portales, on Feb. 27, 2018. Barry loved cars, and anything to do with automobiles. For most of his working life, he worked in auto repair shops or auto parts stores. He enjoyed restoring old cars, and always had one or two that he was working on. Being a perfectionist, they were always very well done. On Wednesday evenings, he and several friends did what they called “bench racing.” They would sit and talk about the cars they were working on, and what they had done to them, and what they intended to do to them next.
Barry is survived by his mother and step father, Joyce and Joe Buckley of Portales. He was preceded in death by his father.
