Obituary for Norma Creighton
Graveside services for Norma Creighton, 92, of Tucumcari will be at 2:00 PM, Fri., Feb. 10, 2017 in the Elida Cemetery with Scott P. Reeves officiating. All of her family members will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 
Norma Lenora Creighton was born Aug. 21, 1924 in Elida, to the home of “Blanche” (Miller) and Stephen R. Thurman and died early Tues. morning, Feb. 7, 2017 in Portales. Mrs. Creighton grew up in Elida, and graduated from high school there in 1942. In 1945, she was married to James Creighton, Jr. while he was home on leave. Soon after their wedding, he was sent back into action in Germany until the end of the war. In 1959, they bought an irrigated farm in Tucumcari, where they raised hogs and farmed cotton. In addition, Mrs. Creighton always had a large garden.
When she was a girl, she was baptized in a community church. Even though she had not been to church for several years, Mrs. Creighton read and studied her Bible every day.

 
She is survived by a son, Carl Creighton of Tucumcari; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Ronnie King of Los Lunas, NM and Jan and Joe Cook of Olatha, KS; five grandchildren, T. J., Kim and Ashely King and Joshua and Cameron Cook; a great-granddaughter, Brooke King; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lavon and Bill Webb of Portales. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Eloise Creighton, a sister-in-law, Sarah Bilberry, a sister and brother-in-law, Verna Faye and Floyd Hare, and by her husband, James Creighton, Jr., who died June 11, 1999.
