Norma Feye Griffin was born April 5, 1945, to J. W. Luce and Fern (Vaughn) in Plainview, TX, and died Dec. 31, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. She met the love of her life, Jimmy Griffin, and they were married on Aug. 1, 1959 in Juarez, Mexico. The family blossomed with seven children, two sons and five daughters, and has continued to grow with 16 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Norma was dedicated to her family and their care. Although she did not finish school, she always wanted her children to have a good education. In fact, Norma attended Avalon Tech College for accounting in Odessa, TX and graduated with a 4.0. Norma was active in the community through church and the senior citizen center where she loved to dance. She loved God and often commented that she and Jesus had their own thing going. She enjoyed her nightly phone calls with her children and always ended their calls with a reminder, “don’t forget your prayers and praises!” In today’s times she also added, “lots of hugs and kisses,” because she wanted them to know that, if she could, she would be doing just that.
After the passing of Jimmy, on May 11, 2005, Norma was married to C. B. Eddins, Jr. on June 17, 2006. They were blessed with nine precious years together before C. B. passed on May 3, 2015.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, J. W. Luce and Fern (Vaughn) Luce, her husbands, Jimmy Dale Grifffin and C. B. Eddins, brothers, Euel Luce, Nolan Luce, J. W. Luce, Jr., sister Charlene Seales, and grandson, Jonathon Thornton.
Norma leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Janie Griffin of Carlsbad, NM and Jerry and Kim Griffin of Arvada, CO; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Katrina and Kenny Prince of Portales, Sheila and Paul Thornton of Hobbs, NM, Michelle Griffin of Denver, CO, Tracy and Robert Allen of Summerville, SC and Saprina Griffin of Portales; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Richardson of Hereford, TX and two brothers, Ed Luce of Tulsa, OK and Jack Luce of Salisaw, OK; and by her daughter by love, Kayla Whittington of Odessa, TX.
